AMI Environmental understands the importance of using proper containment measures and infection control in construction protocols to protect patients and minimize the risk for hospital-acquired infections. Even when specific infection control protocols are not requested, we make a point to consider our work plans from an infection control standpoint to maximize occupant safety.
We work with healthcare owners, architects, contractors and construction managers during pre-construction, project execution, commissioning and maintenance activities to develop and implement infection prevention protocols that protect patients, minimize disruption and fit in the project budget and schedule. We then develop a comprehensive approach to minimize patient, facility and worker risk throughout the execution of renovation, addition and maintenance projects.
IAQ & Building Systems
Renovation or demolition projects will undoubtedly impact—and potentially disrupt—important building operations and systems, and cause serious problems in healthcare facilities where these systems need to be tightly controlled. The key is to plan for and limit the impact on building systems so that occupant comfort and safety are not compromised.
AMIE Industrial Hygiene and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) experts apply the principles of their respective fields to foresee potential side effects on building systems and adjust work specifications to include correction measures like work area contaminant and IAQ monitoring to protect occupant health and safety. Important Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) factors for noise and vibration are also considered in project design and protection measures.
Project Monitoring
We understand that resolving environmental problems continues far beyond the initial site investigation, all the way until renovation and demolition work are complete. AMIE provides monitoring services for the majority of its projects in order to ensure that Infection Control Protocols are affective, are followed properly, and to detect and address emergency events during the construction process.
